VERORDENINGEN voor het Israëlitisch Kerkgenootschap binnen het Koningrijk Der Nederlanden
Regulations for the Jewish Congregation within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Dutch State Coat-of-Arms as a vignette on title page. The first series of official Dutch government ordinances since the foundation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1813 (under King William III) in which the Dutch Jewish community (Sephardim) became equal to Dutch law, as already was the case with the Dutch Reformed Church that was, de facto, the official Religion in the Netherlands. These ordinances regulated every aspect of public life: education, financing the erection of Synagogues, Rabbi's salaries, etc. One of the foremost ordinances was the obligation for Jewish children and teachers to master reasonably the Dutch language. The page-numbering is according to the size of the Rabbinates the Netherlands had been divided in.
